Luke played all his junior football with St Marys where he played 56 U/18’s and 28 U/16’s where he became a bit of a goal sneak with 15 goals. In his junior football career Luke was a member of the many great St Marys Junior premiership sides

The smiling assassin as he is known and with the very likeable personality is a very resilient footballer. Luke commenced his league career as a backman in 2002/03 under Damien Hale where he played in 7 games. The following year he cemented his place in the league side where he has averaged 18 games per season since commencing his league career.

In 2000/01 He was awarded an encouragement award in the U/18’s and since then has won the best Backman award in 2003/04 and 2007/08. He has also won the Noel Long trophy of Success through Perseverance in 2005/06 and 2006/07 and was runner up for the Best and Fairest in 2006/07.

Luke has played in 5 St Marys Premierships 2003/04, 2004/05, 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2009/10 and the Grand Final sides of 2003/04 and 2010/11

Being a very versatile player Luke has been asked to perform some big tasks on some very good centre half forwards and full forwards and vary rarely gets his colours lowered but during season 2008/09 to the surprise of many he played a few of his games up forward where he kicked a few goals

In season 2010/11 Luke played his 150th League game against Waratahs on the 6th February 2011 which qualified him to become St Mary’s 35th player Life Member. Luke became St Marys 13th 200 game player and St Marys 16th player NTFL life member in 2014/15 when he played his 200th game in round 2 on the 11th October 2014 against Palmerston Magpies in Season 2014/15. His total now stands at 210 to the end of season 2014/15            .

Luke has worked tirelessly on his skills and play making and is the ultimate of what a player can achieve when you commit yourself to anything to be the very best you can be.

Luke lives happily in Humpty Doo with his partner Rebekah and to make his life complete he has four future St Marys players Malakye in about season 2018/19, Zyleem in about season 2022/23, Taij in about season 2027/28 and Blayze in about season 2029/30.

From all St Marys players and Supporters Congratulations Luke you have been a joy to watch.......Rex
