Brian ‘Bruno’ Long

Brian played all his 206 NTFL football games with St Marys and was club captain in 1988/89 to 1991/92. After making his debut in 1980/81 season Brian played in 10 grand finals for 8 premierships. 1983/84, 1984/85, 1985/86, 1986/87, 1987/88, 1989/90, 1990/91 and 1991/92.

As an underage player Brian represented the NT at secondary level, 1977(Hobart), 1978 (Geelong) and was the first Teal Cup captain in 1979 (Hobart).

Brian has represented the NTFL on 7 occasions, Glenelg 1985, Essendon 1986, Tasmania and the VFA in the 1988 Bicentennial Carnival, Essendon 1989, North Melbourne 1989 and Geelong 1992.

He won St Marys best and fairest in season 1985/86 and has been runner up three times.

Brian is the second son of St Marys Legend Jack Long and one of seven brothers who have played in premierships for St Marys. His former team-mates and opposition alike respect him and Kevin Sheedy says he was a ready made VFL footballer when he first saw him play.

He is a life member of St Marys and the NTFL.
